Solid variant of papillary cystadenoma of the epididymis.

[von hippel-lindau disease]

Papillary cystadenoma of the epididymis (PCE) is a rare epididymal neoplasm characterized by small and large cystic spaces filled with predominantly papillary projections lined by clear cells. Bilateral PCE has a strong association with von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHLD) (1) . Previous studies have shown that PCE has an immunohistochemical staining profile identical to clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma (RCC) (2) , with the only difference being primary tumor location. Herein, we describe a rare case of PCE with an exclusively solid growth pattern and emphasize the importance of ancillary immunohistochemistry in establishing the correct diagnosis.
