[Pyomyositis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae in a previously healthy 20-year-old man].

Pyomyositis
is
a
bacterial
infection
of
the
skeletal
muscle
usually
caused
by
Staphylococcus
aureus
.
This
case
report
presents
a
20
-
year
-old
man
with
pyomyositis
caused
by
Streptococcus
pneumoniae
.
Pyomyositis
is
a
rare
but
potentially
critical
disease
,
and
early
diagnosis
,
drainage
and
use
of
appropriate
antibiotic
therapy
are
essential
to
reduce
morbidity
and
mortality
.
However
,
early
diagnosis
of
pyomyositis
can
be
challenging
as
initial

be
vague
,
but
the
condition
should
be
suspected
in
patients
with
acute

of
severe
,
localised

and
fever
.
