Immunohistochemical
analysis

brains

patients

revealed

cysteine
proteinase
inhibitor
cystatin
C
colocalizes
with
amyloid
beta
-protein

parenchymal
and
vascular
amyloid
deposits

cerebral
hemorrhage
was
observed
in
any
of
the
brains
studied

microscopy
demonstrated
dual
staining
of
amyloid
fibrils

Abeta
and

cystatin
C
antibodies

Cystatin
C
immunoreactivity
was
also
observed
in
amyloid
deposits
in

brain

transgenic
mice
overexpressing
human
beta
amyloid
precursor
protein

deposition

variant
cystatin
C

vessels

the
Icelandic
form
of
hereditary
cerebral

responsible

neurons

prone

showed
intracellular
immunoreactivity

subpopulation
