Epidermolysis bullosa pruriginosa triggered by scabies infestation.
[dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa]
Epidermolysis
bullosa
pruriginosa
(
EB-Pr
)
is
an
unusual
variant
of
dystrophic
EB
.
Potential
genetic
disease
modifiers
and
metabolic
factors
have
been
investigated
,
but
thus
far
no
specific
insight
into
this
phenotype
has
emerged
.
We
report
an
in
-depth
description
of
three
patients
diagnosed
as
having
EB-Pr
in
whom
this
particular
phenotype
developed
after
scabies
infestation
and
dramatically
improved
after
full
treatment
.
This
short
communication
suggests
that
scabies
infestation
could
be
one
of
the
important
triggering
factors
for
the
development
of
the
EB-Pr
phenotype
.
