revealed

binds
strongly
to
the

RRE
and
less
strongly
to

site
.
Thus
,
the
smpd
3
promoter
is
activated
by
BMP
2
and
is
directly
regulated
by
the
Runx
2
transcription
factor
.

novel
description
of
smpd

regulation
will
aid
further
studies
of
bone
development
and
osteogenesis
