The clinical picture and the histological results of liver biopsy performed in acute phase proved the presence of a rare hyperbilirubinaemia syndrome, "the syndrome of benign recurrent, intrahepatic cholestasis". The authors briefly describe Summerskill-Walshe syndrome and its place in different hyperbilirubinaemia disorders.
